The programme
Our UK Europe Operations and Engineering team are responsible for the engineering, operations and maintenance of our power stations throughout the UK and Continental Europe.
Graduates in this stream spend two years rotating through 3-4 of our power stations gaining experience in a number of teams and roles; working in coal, gas and pump storage powered stations and developing their knowledge of a range of power generation technologies.
Initially graduates are sent on a basic training course which includes basic craft skills, an introduction to power stations and health & safety. This initial training is complemented throughout the programme with site specific inductions and technical training alongside leadership and personal development.
We also support our graduate engineers to work towards chartered engineering status with professional bodies (including the IET and the IMechE) as we are committed to developing our engineers to the highest standards.
Typical placements
Previous graduates on the programme have had the opportunity to work on the following projects:
- Cooling tower refurbishment and the identification, assessment and application of improvements to current process
- Arc flash hazard analysis and recommendations for improvement
- Improving and developing new project planning guidelines and recommendations
They have also had the opportunity to work at the following power stations: Rugeley Power station (coal fired), First Hydro Company (pump storage powered), Deeside and Shotton (Gas), Saltend (Gas).
What are we looking for?
