Ranald Spiers Executive Director – Middle East and Asia
Ranald Spiers was appointed to the Board of International Power plc in May 2008, as Executive Director, Middle East and Asia regions, based in Abu Dhabi and Singapore. Ranald has responsibility for managing all aspects of International Power's performance in the Middle East and Asian regions including plant operations and finance, and he is also responsible for all new business development in both regions.
Ranald joined the Company in 1993. Prior to this he worked for the BP Group for 12 years across a wide spectrum of industries, including petrochemicals, detergents, oil refining, downstream gas, advanced materials and aerospace.
David Barlow Head of Business Development, Middle East region
David was appointed to his current role as head of Business Development for the Middle East region in January 2008, with responsibility for assessment and bid development of projects.
David joined International Power in 1987 in the Company's research department, prior to its demerger from National Power in October 2000. In 1998 David moved to the Abu Dhabi office to join the Middle East Business Development team. He has since worked on a number of projects in the region including the Shuweihat, Umm Al Nar and Fujairah F2 projects.
John Hurst Development Business Manager MENA
John joined the Company in 2004 and is responsible for delivering new development opportunities in the Middle East and Africa region, based in Abu Dhabi.
A chartered engineer (electrical) with 30 years experience in the industry, he has worked in the Middle East Region for the last 8 years developing greenfield and brownfield opportunities in Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain and brings a wealth of development and EPC experience to the region. Prior to joining International Power John worked for PB Power as a consultant in the generation business, mainly in the Middle East, and for ALSTOM developing EPC projects in power generation.
Jaideep Sandhu Regional Technical Advisor, Middle East
Jaideep joined the company in 1995 and is responsible for the engineering aspects of the power and desalination project development activities in the Middle East and Africa.
Jaideep has been based in Abu Dhabi since mid 2001 and has worked on a number of projects such as Shuweihat, Umm Al Nar, and Fujairah F2. Jaideep previously worked in operations and engineering roles at Didcot A Power Station in the UK and in Kazakhstan. Prior to joining National Power, Jaideep used to work in operations and maintenance for NTPC, India.
Keith UlyettGeneral Manager Operations (Middle East & Africa)
Keith joined the Middle East team, based in Abu Dhabi, in 2006 and is responsible for the operational performance of our Middle East assets. In addition, Keith works with our joint venture partners to ensure International Power's interests in the region are protected and maximized.
Keith joined the Company in 1973, working on a number of coal and gas power plants in the UK. Before joining the Middle East team he was responsible for the operational performance of our North American assets. He has extensive technical and engineering experience in operating and maintaining power plants and provides an operational input in to the regions development activities.
