Ranald Spiers

Ranald Spiers
Executive Director – Middle East and Asia

Ranald Spiers was appointed to the Board of International Power plc in May 2008, as Executive Director, Middle East and Asia regions, based in Abu Dhabi and Singapore. Ranald has responsibility for managing all aspects of International Power's performance in the Middle East and Asian regions including plant operations and finance, and he is also responsible for all new business development in both regions.

Ranald joined the Company in 1993. Prior to this he worked for the BP Group for 12 years across a wide spectrum of industries, including petrochemicals, detergents, oil refining, downstream gas, advanced materials and aerospace.



Gary Elsworth

Gary Elsworth
General Manager, Operations and Maintenance, Paiton

Gary was appointed to his current role, general manager IPM Operations and Maintenance at Paiton in Indonesia, in 2005. In this role, Gary is responsible for the operations and maintenance performance at Paiton Power Plant in Indonesia.

Gary joined International Power in 2003, and previously worked in operations and engineering roles in the UK as well as working extensively providing technical and operational input to development and acquisition projects in most of our business regions, most recently supporting Asia development activities from his base in Indonesia. Prior to joining International Power Gary worked for Innogy in the US developing and selling O&M services to US Utilities.


Tom Mackay

Tom Mackay
Head of Business Development, Asia

Tom joined the Company in 1990 and is now responsible for delivering new development opportunities in Asia with a focused development team based in Singapore. He previously worked in the Middle East Region for 10 years developing greenfield opportunities in Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and brings a wealth of development and EPC experience to the Asia region.

Tom was previously country manager in Pakistan in the early 1990's and was part of the development team for both the HUBCO and KAPCO assets.




Kian Min Low

Kian Min Low
Deputy Regional Director, Asia Region

Kian Min was appointed to his current role as deputy regional director for Asia, based in Singapore, in 2005. His primary responsibility is now to successfully deliver the Paiton III project. While with the Company, he has been actively involved in projects in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia.

Kian Min joined International Power in 1998 as counsel for the South East Asian region. In 2001, he was transferred to the Australian operations of the company as its general counsel before being appointed as the head of Business Development, Australia. Prior to joining International Power Kian Min worked in private practice and at ABN Amro.
