To achieve this we use state-of-the-art, proven environmental technology at our new assets and seek to upgrade our older assets where possible. We take our societal responsibilities very seriously, whether working to enhance the communities in which we operate or to ensure that our employees are well treated and have a safe working environment.

1.3 billion people do not have electricity and 2.7 billion people are dependent on traditional biomass. In response to this situation, the General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2012 the International year of sustainable energy for all.

International Power and its parent company GDF SUEZ support this initiative via their subsidiaries and their local projects aimed at improving the everyday lives of disadvantaged populations in various countries.
